Helping Flood Victims
Pakistan has been hit hard by floods over the past two to three years, with the devastating 2022 floods being the most impactful. In 2022, unusually heavy monsoon rains, made worse by melting glaciers due to climate change, submerged about a third of the country. This affected over 33 million people and led to more than 1,700 deaths. The economic damage was enormous, with widespread destruction of homes, farms, and crucial infrastructure like roads and bridges. Millions were displaced, leading to a humanitarian crisis with food shortages and outbreaks of waterborne diseases.

Global Hopes’ Ongoing Commitment
While the 2022 floods were historically severe, Pakistan has continued to experience significant monsoon-related flooding in subsequent years, including the intense monsoon season of 2024, which again caused substantial damage and casualties. This highlights the nation’s ongoing vulnerability to climate-induced disasters. Global Hopes has been continuously on the ground throughout this period, collaborating with international organizations and the Pakistani government. Our teams have been actively involved in extensive relief efforts, providing crucial aid to affected communities. We’ve focused on restoring essential infrastructure, helping to rebuild homes and critical access points. Furthermore, we’ve been dedicated to long-term resilience building, working to equip communities with the resources and knowledge to better withstand future environmental challenges. The sheer scale of these recurrent disasters presents immense challenges, but our commitment to the people of Pakistan remains unwavering.
